A Campaign with Bike Mechanic: “Bike-er-Ostad: Ostadder Asor”

In Bangladesh, still an irregular brand preference sustains in lubricants market. Once there is also a common belief that the mechanics are the doctor of a vehicle. And the riders always favored their prescribed lube oil for their motorbike engines. This uneven picture has been changed now and the riders has their own brand preference regarding the use of bike engine oil. Most riders try to use the recommended lube oil for their motorbikes.

But a relationship with a lube is always crucial, mostly when a rider changed it first. If the oil suited properly with the bike, a trust takes place in the mind. So a quality 4T engine oil is always required in this market. But, still the mechanic plays a key role while changing the oil. Apart from all, the lube company believes that the mechanics are the key supervisor to motivate those riders. For the 4T product, most lube marketers always try to design campaign engaging them most.

As, ‘Ostad’ is the very familiar catchphrase to a local biker point in all around Bangladesh, addressing this byword, Shell Bangladesh had initiated a brilliant campaign mostly for the bike mechanics. Through this campaign the yellow trademarked Shell has created their strong presence at biker points in the year 2015. Indeed, Shell Bangladesh’s ‘Bike-er-Ostad’ campaign is one of the successful campaigns to engage the bike mechanic with their Advanced 4T engine oil.

Most participated mechanics were from Dhaka and Gazipur area. Around 18 best mechanics were competing in the event to show their Ostadgiri (performance). Among them 3 best Ostads (mechanics) were nominated for awards. ‘Ostadder Asor’, the final competition of this ‘Bike-er-Ostad’ campaign has organized an event on 15th September, 2015 at a local hotel in Dhaka.

Vice Chairman Rumee Akhtar Hossain, Managing Director Imran Zaman Khan, Chief Executive Officer Mahbub Hossain, Chief Operating Officer Md.
